Our Society operates an Education Centre and Salmon Hatchery. It is run by a group of dedicated volunteers working to preserve and enhance fish and wildlife habitats and promote environmental awareness and education to the public.
SALMON FESTIVAL - November 19, 2017
Join the 5,000 plus visitors from around the Lower Mainland who come out to celebrate and witness the return of thousands of salmon back to their birthplace to lay and fertilize their eggs. Spawning time is the end of these Coho & Chum salmon’s lifespan and the beginning of the next generation.
This FREE family event provides visitors of all ages the opportunity to observe salmon up close and learn about their life cycle through educational displays, salmon dissections and in-stream demonstrations. Come out for a day of exploring, experiencing and learning about the salmon and wildlife in a fish-bearing watershed.
Come by the hatchery between 9:30-11:30am on Saturdays for an informal tour. We are located at 3636 Coast Meridian Road, Port Coquitlam.

Volunteers pick the days and times they are available to help out with:
- Classes and tour training (as guide or assistant)
- Event planning (Open House and Salmon Festival)
- Day to day hatchery operations

Meetings are the 1st Wednesday of each month at the Hyde Creek Education Centre & Hatchery, 3636 Coast Meridian Road, Port Coquitlam. Meetings are open to the public. Come in to learn more, tour our facility and meet the members.
